WiFi has become the mainstay of connectivity today. It's an essential part of our daily lives, making it possible to work, study, or people themselves to anywhere in the world within minutes. One of the most important standards for WiFi is 802.11 N which operates at up to 300 Mbps (mega bit per second). But what if you're looking for drivers for your Mac? The good news is that there are many different 802.11 N driver options available for Mac users that offer various levels of compatibility and performance depending on your needs and budget. For this tutorial, we'll be using the free 802.11 N wireless adapter from Atheros that allows you to make the most out of your Mac while integrating seamlessly into Mac OS. Compatibility: MacBook Air (2011, 2012), Mac Mini (late 2010), iMac (late 2009 and early 2010 models) and MacBook Pro (13-inch) were confirmed to fully support 802.11 N. This would include Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and Mac OS X 10. 9 Mavericks. NOTE: 802.11 N is supported by all MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Minis with the exception of the late 2008 models which were replaced by the 2009 models. These late 2008 models included an 802.11 N capable WiFi card but Apple decided not to enable the chipset because it was really too early for it to be used reliably. If you want to use 802.11 N on your Mac then you'll need to use one of the above mentioned Macs that were released in 2009 or later. Important Note: Please remember that the CPU must support this technology as well (you can check this through About This Mac > System Report > CPU). Also, make sure that your router supports 802. 11 N as well. MacBook Pro 15" 2011 Unibody models will require the new Multibeast 6 installer to properly display 802.11 N functionality. If you are using one of these models then you'll need to manually install it. Installation Instructions: Adaptador Atheros AR5B95 Rev A1 Version 1.0, 3/10/2011 The first step is to download the driver from the link above and extract its contents to a folder on your desktop or any other convenient location on your hard drive (this will make it easier for us to navigate through the files). Once done, you should have a folder called "Atheros 802. 11 N" in your Downloads folder. We are now ready to install the driver by double clicking on the newly extracted "Atheros 802.11 N Driver For Mac" application. The next step is for you to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi in order for the installer to locate your network. Once connected successfully, you should see a screen indicating that the driver has successfully installed. Then, when you try to launch AirPort Utility it will automatically launch with support for 802.11 N enabled! If it doesn't work, then follow the steps mentioned here Please note that these drivers are meant for use on OS X 10. cfa1e77820
